So why does a landscaping company have blog, and why is there a category called The Tech Bench? Well first off we have a blog at Merlin because in order to be competitive in the current market we must have an online presence. We also figure that a blog is an easy way to let you guys know what is going on inside our heads and maybe get to know us a little better. But possibly the most relevant reason why we have a blog is because it was fun to make!

I have always have had a drive to create and build things with my mind and with my hands, whatever they might be. When I was just old enough to walk I got a screwdriver for my birthday. Being the small child that I was I didn't have the strength to screw in new screws but I could sure unscrew things. Lets just say my sisters toy box was the first victim followed close by those brass carpet strips that go between hardwood and carpet. So with that drive I took on the task of creating this website and blog.

While I could have opted for the easy way out and ran the blog on a platform of Joomla, Wordpress, or any other CMS Blogging software I chose to code my own custom blog with PHP and MySQL. For those who don't know PHP is a web application programing language and MySQL is the database that holds all the important information.

This is a large task to say the least but it is slowly coming together. It is wicked awesome to see all the final details coming together and work together seamlessly, it is sort of like watching a landscape renovation wrap up. I'm sure the satisfaction gained will be just as great as well.

In the future be prepared to see a comment section on the blog where you can leave your own feedback and questions. The Tech Bench is where we will update you with tech news and more information on how the website is coming together. We are also constantly working on SEO so if you want to link to us go right ahead! We also use this Canadian Directory
